Day 6

Today has been okay. I've been quite hungry though. 


Breakfast was chocolate granola:



For lunch I had chunky vegetable soup which smelled really good but only tasted okay. I also had a piece of wholemeal bread.


For dinner I had the lasagne. It was horrible, I really didn't enjoy it. The congealed gloop for sauce on the top was just nasty and I had to scrape it off. Disappointing as I was starving by dinner time.



I'm not sure how many lasagnes I ordered, I think there's one or two more. I might just skip them completely and try and make a healthy meal that night instead.


I didn't end up having the biscuits last night, but I definitely will now. I'm starving!

Day 5

Today I started off yet again with chocolate granola. I've been having a cup of tea beforehand to try and get something into my stomach so that I feel more satisfied when i've finished the cereal. I think it's working because i'm not dying to eat more straight away although I could happily have four times as much granola than DC allows.


For lunch I had the bacon and bean soup. I had this on my first day and forgot to take a picture but I have one for you today!  It had to be the this soup today because my boyfriend decided to quite rudely make himself a bacon sandwich knowing I couldn't have any (grounds for breaking up, I think!). So I had the taste for bacon and this soup filled a hole. I also love how it has chunky vegetables in it. I've had a look through the soups and squeezed the packets and there's quite a few that seem to be just slightly thick liquid. So I think with those I'll have some veg to chuck into them so it's more filling.



I made bolognese for my boyfriend for dinner tonight (I hate calling him that, I feel like it makes me sound 13. Not sure why. But from now on i'll refer to him as Dan.) So to tie in with it I had the pasta bolognese with peas. Lots of peas. It was really nice. 



What I've been doing with my lunch and dinners is having a large glass of squash with them to help me feel fuller but DC recommends not having sugary squash so what i'm going to do is make a jug of fruit tea and when it cools down i'll pop it in the fridge. I just don't fruit tea hot - it just doesn't float my boat. But i'm hoping that i'll enjoy this. I've done orange tonight so I'll have some in the morning and see how it tastes.


Other than my meals today i've had a some grapes and soon i'll have my DC biscuits and tea.

Day 4

Today has been good so far. I've been feeling less hungry which is always good. So yet again I started off with chocolate granola with semi skimmed milk.




For lunch I had the minestrone which was lovely. I had that with a slice of wholemeal bread.




For dinner I had the chilli con carne with a jacket potato and vegetables which was really nice and very filling. I think it was the spud that really filled me up.




I've also had an apple today and I think i'll go and have my DC biscuits and a nice cuppa rosie in a minute :-)

Day 3

I woke up last night at about 2 and couldn’t get back to sleep, by about 3-3.30 I had to get up and eat some grapes because I was hungry and I felt sick. 
I had lunch out so I didn’t have my soup. I had some pasta in a tomato and pepper sauce which was lovely. I can’t remember the exact amount of calories it had but I think it was about 50 or 60 more than a DC soup, which considering I didn’t have a slice of bread as I would have with the soup, I think I may be under my calorie allowance.

A couple of hours after that I had some grapes and one of the chocolate chip breakfast bars. I know they’re for brekkie but it was the first thing I grabbed when I was rushing out of the door this morning. It tasted lovely but was a pain because I couldn’t tuck in. I hate anything like raisins and sultanas so I had to pick them out before I could eat it. 
For dinner I had the chicken korma with some veg which was gorgeous. 


I’ve felt pretty hungry all day. I really hope this passes soon because whilst i’m dealing with it okay right now, I don’t want it to get tedious because then I might be tempted to give up.

Day 2

Today I started the day off with the chocolate granola, which again is lovely but there's just hardly any of it. I find if I'm occupying my mind while i'm eating then I eat it slower, so it lasts longer. I'm not sure if it's just psychological but I think this helps me feel fuller compared to if I just scoffed it. I had an apple about an hour and a half after brekkie.


For lunch I had the Thai Chicken soup and a slice of wholemeal bread. The soup smelled lovely but unfortunately it didn't taste as good as I hoped. It was okay, not horrible or anything.  Because this soup is just liquid it wasn't very filling, so I made some plain noodles to have in it. Not sure how diet chef stands with noodles but I'd rather that than to still be hungry and eat something far worse.


For dinner I had the cottage pie with sweetcorn and carrots. When I was doing slimming world sweetcorn and peas were not free food, something about the shell on them meaning they're digested differently or something. So i'm not sure if they are recommended veg with DC or not.
The cottage pie was delicious, very very nice. I felt nice and full after dinner, but I still wished there was more because it was so nice.


I've had had my biscuits and a tea, about 2 and a half - 3 hours after dinner. They're really good, they taste like a mixture of a digestive biscuit and a hobnob. 


I've got to go to town tomorrow and i'll possibly be there during lunch time, so I may be eating out. Hopefully if I do i'll find something as healthy as possible. I didn't really want to eat anything else so shortly after starting Diet Chef but we'll see. 

First Day on Diet Chef!

(Although the date of this post says Thursday 24th February it was for the 23rd, I just posted it after midnight.)


I took the plunge and ordered my first months worth of Diet Chef. It arrived today and I’m currently feeling excited but also very nervous and actually quite scared.  It could work, I could finally have found something that works for me and I could possibly finally be happy with my body.  But on the other hand - it might not work. It might just not work for me, or maybe i’ll be too weak and won’t stick to it. Maybe it’ll work for a month and then i’ll get complacent and the pounds will creep back on. 
Whatever happens I’m going to give it a go.
Three boxes arrived. One containing breakfast and snacks, one containing lunch and the other had my dinners in it. It also came with a little booklet which from what I can tell from briefly flicking through it is it seems to be the same information that you can download from the website. Helpful nonetheless.







Right, so after my first day on Diet Chef I have to admit that I have been hungry all day. Even after each meal I was full up but then became hungry very quickly.  I think my body just needs to get used to smaller portions and less snacks so i’m still feeling positive. 
The granola was nice but there’s so little of it, I don’t know how anyone could start their day on such a small amount of food!  About an hour after I ate this I had an apple.  I find I need a drink of cold water when i’m eating this cereal so that adds to my intake hopefully making me feel a little fuller.  Also I think I need that small dose of chocolate to keep me sane!

For lunch I had the bacon and bean soup which was lovely. It was also full of chunky vegetables aswell which was nice. After about an hour an a half I had the DC chocolate chip biscuits which were lovely, reminded me of hobnobs a bit since they’re oaty. I have to admit I waited as long as I could to eat them but I was quite hungry after only half an hour or so after eating the soup.  I forgot to take a picture of lunch and the snack, sorry!

Then for dinner I had the beef hotpot with some carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. This was very nice although the smell sort of reminded me of plane food which I can’t eat but it tasted great so that’s all that matters.


I haven't eaten anything else today but I have had a few cups of tea and one small cup of options hot chocolate (without milk). Looking forward to tomorrow.
